Maker Montage

Again, this assignment demonstrated the differentiation that is fostered by maker projects. Everyone was able to choose something that played to their strengths while still being completely within the confines of this project, and the outcome for everyone varied significantly. We were all given the same criteria but no two projects were the same.

This quote from “Who Is Welcome Here…” explains the importance of authentic assignments for students and how CRP and maker mindsets intertwine. “For making to align with equity pedagogy, ‘students’ projects should be deeply connected with meaningful problems, either at a personal or community level, and designing solutions to those problems would become both educational and empowering’” (Kye, 2020, p. 12).

I really liked creating something with the goal of enhancing EDIDA principles in the classroom that I can use with my students. I think this could be a great inquiry type project for students – to have them think of how they can foster EDIDA in the classroom. I think it would give students a lot of agency and show them where and how they have power and what they can do to advocate for themselves and others.

Playing around with adding shortcodes, I made this one wrong some how and so it basically shows you the right answer. So I need to iterate that.
